District of Columbia Court Opinions (Court of Appeals and Superior Court)

Congress established the District of Columbia Court of Appeals as the highest court of the District of Columbia and the Superior Court as the trial court of general jurisdiction in 1970.  The D.C. Court of Appeals is the equivalent of a state supreme court.  The Superior Court handles all local trial matters, including civil, criminal, family court, probate, tax, landlord-tenant, small claims, and traffic.
