Officials: Deer hunt not as successful as hopedEMERALD ISLE – A controlled bow hunt that ended last week in Emerald Isle didn’t bring the success the town had hoped for in reducing the deer population. A total of 17 deer were taken by bow and arrow during the hunt that ran from mid-April through the end of February at five designated sites along the Coast Guard Road corridor.
