A win for developers, new state proffer law frustrates Chesapeake

CHESAPEAKE Starting this summer, developers coming to the City Council with new projects may be able to offer significantly less in impact fees than their predecessors, under legislation signed by the governor this week. Senate Bill 549 updates Virginia’s rules on proffers – voluntary fees paid to a local government to offset the impact of development on infrastructure.

AG obtains court order against attorney and condo developersNEW YORK (Legal Newsline) – New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman announced Friday he has obtained a court order against a Brooklyn attorney and his condominium developer clients to temporarily bar them from doing condo and securities-related work. The order prohibits attorney Harold Gruber and his clients, Shiraz Sanjana and Joseph Scarpinito, from doing the work while a court case is pending.
