Yesterday, two members of the U.S. Representatives from California, Rep. Anna Eshoo and Rep. Mike Thompson introduced the Helping Our Middle-Income Earners (HOME) Act.  If passed, the HOME Act would allow certain homeowners to deduct up to $5,000 in qualified homeowners association assessments from their federal tax liability.

Woodland Park, condo group have opportunity to settle lawsuit over taxesWOODLAND PARK – Borough officials will meet with representatives of a condo owners group from the Four Seasons at Great Notch in a court-mandated mediation in Trenton on Dec. 18. The Committee to Advocate for Public Policy – Four Seasons at Great Notch has claimed that the borough, as a result of a revaluation in 2010, unjustly shifted the municipality’s tax burden to its community by increasing property assessments there.

Condo Associations See Reduced Town Rebates for Trash CollectionCondominium associations in Branford are seeing an impact of the savings the town has seen in the new trash contract, and its coming in the form of reduced rebates from the town. This year, the town of Branford had its trash contract go out to bid, and Waste Tech was the successful bidder and took over the service earlier this year.
